Aims and dimensions of Jawan Pakistan

Jawan Pakistan exists for creating, disseminating, and advocating knowledge about youth. The blog www.jawanpakistan.wordpress.com aims at providing virtual space for youth to think, share and interact on issues of social, political and economic issues.     

This knowledge on youth, for JP, has four dimensions or sub themes:

(1) Jawan Fikr (thoughts on youth)

(2) Jawan Awaz (voice of youth)

(3) Jawan Dost (community of youth and/or programs for youth)

(4) Jawan Fard (persona of youth) 

We now briefly explain each of these sub themes.

Jawan Fard: Brings forth the Issues and challenges of an individual youth; its aspirations its frustrations, its aims and its challenges

Jawan Dost: Outlines basic methods of how youth are brought together for the wider benefit of the society and country as a whole

Jawan Awaz: Provides for freedom of expression on issue of national concern

Jawan Fikr: Encourages alternative and fresh thinking on youth development and youth policy.

 Overall, the thematic model of JP serves as a systematic tool to gauge any youth issue or problem.

  For example, take the problem of unemployment. The ‘knowledge’ part of the solution has various layers. One is to understand: what is unemployment, how many youth are unemployed, why they are unemployed etc. This part of knowledge is taken care in ‘Jawan Fikr’. 

 Second layer is to know how various programs either by the government or by the civil society are being run to tackle unemployment. This is Jawan Dost.  

Third layer is what the youth think about unemployment and what ideas do they share about the same. This is Jawan Awaz.  

Forth and final layer is to know how unemployment affects an individual youth and what strategies should he/she adopts to tackle it. This part is covered under Jawan Fard.
